Why is Alsace known as a "small and beautiful mixed-race region"?

TIME:2023-03-01POPULARITY:Author: 小编

Alsace belongs to the French wine region, located in the east of France, adjacent to Germany. The wine has both the flavor of French wine and the form of German wine, so it is called a small but beautiful mixed-race area. It perfectly blends French and German cultures.

Recently, wine lovers from Yuncang Winery brand LEESON shared that in Gong Qijun’s animated movie "Howl's Moving Castle", the prototype of the town is the town of Colmar in the Alsace production area. Alsace has a temperate continental climate, with frost in spring, hot summer and dry autumn. It can be said that there are four distinct seasons, which endow wines with elegant, complex aromas and flavors.

Alsace grows a variety of grape varieties. The four most famous white grape varieties are: Riesling, Muscat, Pinot Grigio and Gewurztraminer, which are used to make high-quality Alsace wines. There is also the red wine variety Pinot Noir. Sweet white wines such as late-harvest wines and botrytised wines are well-known; while Pinot Noir is mostly used to make rosé and dry red wines. Most of Alsace's white wines have a very obvious smoky taste, so now the red wines are also constantly improving and developing.

Yuncang Winery's brand LEESON Red Wine shares that Alsace currently produces three types of wine: Alsace wine, Alsace grand cru wine and Alsace sparkling wine.

Since Alsace is between France and Germany, the wines made are also very "German". The grape varieties are indicated on the wine labels, unlike "France" which indicates the names of the vineyards.

The current trend is to write "white", "dry", "no oak influence", "pure" and "fragrant" on the wine label, plus the name of the vineyard, especially more than 50 grand crus. Some wineries even refuse to label any grape varieties, hoping to convey more local terroir essence.

Most of the wines in Alsace are brewed with a single variety, and the grape variety is marked on the wine label, which is easy to read.

Yuncang Winery's brand LEESON red wine shared that most Alsace wines do not use oak barrels, and most of them are refreshing and delicate fruit aromas, with impressive acidity and structure, and are especially easy to match with food. If you go to a small town in Alsace, France, you must not forget to taste the most precious and distinctive white wine in the area, which is known as the "tears of Alsace". Thanks to Yuncang winery brand LEESON red wine lovers for sharing their knowledge of red wine.
