Volunteering
Bali, Indonesia
Asia Exchange is a benefactor of the children’s home Seeds of Hope in Bali. There are volunteering positions available for motivated applicants at Seeds of Hope every year. An educational background in social work, child care or some other suitable field is required.
There are 1–4 interns working at Seeds of Hope at the same time. The length of the internship is 3 months. Volunteers need to be committed and dependable throughout the internship period.
Working at the orphanage means being involved with the children’s everyday lives. Volunteers’ tasks include playing with the children and taking care of them.
Communicating in English is very important and volunteers will also teach English to the children. It’s also beneficial to have some knowledge of playing instruments, singing, as well as sports. Get a glimpse of the life at orphanage from this video.
Seeds of Hope expects volunteers to live in the orphanage during the weekdays. Weekends are free so there’s plenty of time to explore Bali and the nearby islands. You can also inquire about the possibility of living somewhere else. In that case you are responsible for your own rent and other housing costs.

COSTS
Paying a daily fee for housing and food is quite common when interning or volunteering at a charity destination. These fees are usually spent for the running of the orphanage, maintenance and food supplies. Three meals a day and housing cost around 8 euros a day at Seeds of Hope.
We encourage you to apply for funding from your home institution or from different foundations to cover the costs. Read our tips. Also note that living costs in Bali are very low.
APPLICATION
There are volunteering positions available throughout the year but it’s important to apply early.
Applicants send their applications directly to Seeds of Hope. You can get more information here or by contacting the orphanage.
