Which visa do I need to attend a language school in the Philippines?
Many nationalities can visit the Philippines for leisure or business, including visiting a language school without a visa, with varying durations ranging from 59 days to less than 7 days, depending on their nationality and bilateral agreements between their country and the Philippines. Therefore, check the specific requirements and procedures for obtaining these visas or permits, as they may vary slightly depending on your individual circumstances and the current regulations in your home country and the Philippines.

Visa Free Entry
If you want to visit the Boracay Coco English Academy most nationalities don’t need a visa. Restricted foreign nationals must obtain an entry visa before entering the Philippines, while unrestricted foreign nationals can enter without one. Upon arrival, most foreign nationals are granted a 30-day stay, although this initial period can range from 7 to 59 days, depending on the visitor’s country of origin. This initial stay can be prolonged for a maximum total stay of 16 months.
Citizens from 157 countries can enter the Philippines visa-free for tourism or business purposes. The complete list of visa-free countries and the maximum duration of stay can be checked according to nationality. The entry requirements are a passport (with at least six months validity) and a return or onward flight ticket.

For the extension of a visa, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) in Intramuros, Manila, or a local BI regional office (including in Cagayan de Oro, Cebu City, Davao City, Iloilo, Pampanga, San Fernando, Tacloban) is responsible. Extending a Visa on Arrival and tourist visas through the BI’s online portal is also possible.

Special Study Permit
If you need a visa to enter or you want to stay longer without going through the extension process, you may apply for a Special Study Permit. This permit is typically used for short-term study programs, such as language courses or short courses. You can apply for the SSP through the school or institution where you’ll be studying after your arrival in the Philippines.

eTravel Code
Additionally, everyone traveling to the Philippines needs to provide the necessary information for the eTravel Portal here: eTravel – Philippines’ Comprehensive Electronic Travel Declaration System. Please fill out your details at least 72 hours before your arrival. Finally, you’ll receive your eTravel QR code, which you need to show to board your flight.
