Teaching language
All the courses included in both majors, Economics and Business Administration, are part of te English track at Hanyang University and are held in English.
Online application
To get accepted to study at Hanyang University and register for courses, students must complete the online application form on our website.
Course Registration
Before traveling to Korea, exchange students will register for courses online. The schedule for course registration will be sent to all applicants before the semester starts. Further course registration and login instructions will be given to all applicants closer to the course registration dates.
You can register for courses on different days depending on the year of the course or register later when all courses, EXCEPT 1st-year courses, are available. Course registration dates will be different upon your major and year. Hanyang’s course registration system works on a “first come, first served” basis. Even if you fail to register for courses on designated dates per year (grade), you still have the chance to register on the registration date for all years (grade) and after the semester begins.
Course requirements
There is a 70% obligatory attendance requirement. Failing to do so may result in failing a course.

Payment procedure
Asia Exchange grants an average of EUR 685 study scholarship for all successful full-degree applicants during their first semester. Consequently, applying through Asia Exchange is cheaper than submitting a direct application to HYU to enable international students an easier start to their studies abroad in South Korea. Therefore, you will pay your first tuition fee to Asia Exchange.

From the second semester onwards, you will pay your tuition fees directly to Hayang University ERICA.
VISA INFORMATION
VISA FOR YOUR FULL DEGREE PROGRAM IN SOUTH KOREA
All international students outside Korea must apply for a student visa at the embassy or consulate of the Republic of Korea. You must apply for the visa in person at the Korean embassy in your home country.

WHO CAN APPLY
To apply for the Full Degree in South Korea, you need:
- Minimum age of 18 years
- You have or are expected to graduate from high school
- You should have sufficient English skills (see required attachments below)
- Both biological parents and/or current legal guardians must not have Korean nationality
- You are from Europe or an English-speaking countries
- If the student or his/her parents have Korean nationality or dual citizenship (including Korean) the student needs to apply as “citizen outside or foreigner” during admissions at HYU

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
Please note all documents must be submitted to Hanyang University in English.
- Official or expected High School graduation certificate (Apostille or Consular Confirmation needed), English notarization required
- Official High School Transcript of last 3 years (Apostille or Consular Confirmation needed), English notarization required
- Proof of high school’s maximum score criteria for each subject in English
- A copy of the identification page of your passport (please note that your passport must be valid for at least 18 months after your trip starts)
- A passport-style color photo. The picture should preferably be in JPEG format.
- Official language certificate (min. 80 TOEFL and min 5.5 IELTS) valid until after online application submission, not required for English-speaking nationalities
- Copies of Both Parents’ Passports (or official documents indicating parents’ nationality), English notarization required
- Official document indicating a parent-child relationship between the applicant and his/her parents, English notarization required
- Certificate authentication bank balance of a minimum of KRW 20,000,000 is valid until after the studies begin. English notarization is required
After completing the online application to the Hanyang University portal and paying the application fee, kindly submit the hard copies of your application documents via post mail to HYU no later than the application deadline. The address is as follows:

Fill out and submit the online application form together with the required documents
- Flexible application: You can apply even if you’re not yet certain of your plans. Cancel at no extra cost up to 1 month before the semester starts.

INSTRUCTIONS
- Note that you will also have to submit an application through Hanyang University’s own application portal at in addition to submitting the application to Asia Exchange. The portal will be open during application periods.
- Please upload the attachments in PDF format.
- If possible, please submit all the attachments together with the application. If you’re missing some attachment(s) when you first apply, you can send the missing document(s) later. However, please note that we won’t process applications without any attachments whatsoever.
- All attachments must be sent to us within 30 days of submitting the application or by the application deadline at the very latest.
- You can submit all the documents electronically. Please don’t send anything via regular mail.
- There is a late application fee for applications or attachments submitted after the application deadline.
- Please note the full degree application periods have strict deadlines and late applications will not be accepted.
Confirmation, official acceptance letter and visa
You’ll get an initial confirmation of your study placement in 1-7 days, starting from the day your application is complete with all the required documents and the application fee is paid. Please note that the university has the final authority regarding student admissions.
You will receive the final confirmation of your study placement 2 months before the semester starts.
The official certificate of admission will be sent to you 1 month before the semester starts at the latest. We’ll send it to the street address you have provided in your application. Please let us know if this address changes at any point.
You need the official certificate of admission to apply for a student visa.
Cancellation
If you’re unable to participate in the program, you have the right to cancel your participation for no extra cost until you pay the tuition fee (Tuition fee can be refunded if the host university declines your application for some reason, the application fee, however, will not be refunded). Let us know about your cancellation by writing us an email at info[at]asiaexchange.org. Cancellations notified via phone, SMS or by any other means will not be considered. Travel Insurance
You are required to have valid accident and health insurance either from your home country or insurance recommended by HUFS for the whole duration of the program. The university may request a copy of the insurance certificate at the beginning of the semester. See our recommended travel insurance providers.
ACCOMODATION
HANYANG UNIVERSITY STUDENT ACCOMMODATION
You can live directly on the Hanyang University campus by simply specifying your request in our application form. No further documents are required as you apply for the student dormitory via your application at Asia Exchange – it is as easy as that!
The university provides on-campus accommodation at the ERICA Campus. The rooms at the dormitory are double rooms and are equipped with air conditioning, a bathroom, 2 single beds, and other basic equipment. Additionally, single rooms are available with a single bed and a private bathroom.
Check-in and check-out dates will be confirmed separately for each semester. Normally, you can check in 4 days before the start of the semester, and students can stay in the dorm for the duration of the semester. The dormitory payment is paid directly to Hanyang University. Q: How do I select my courses?
A: Course registration dates will be sent to you by email. Course registration happens through Hanyang University’s own portal.
Q: What study level are the courses in the full degree program at Hanyang University?
A: The courses in the full degree program are Bachelor/undergraduate level courses.
Q: When do the exams take place?
A: Exams will be organized during the last few weeks of the semester. All courses and exams will be finished by the announced semester ending date.
Q: What type of visa do I need to have in order to study in South Korea?
A: You will need a D2 student visa in order to study in South Korea. Please contact your local embassy for more details.
Q: When can I apply for my visa?
A: You can start your visa application process after receiving the official acceptance letter from Hanyang University. The letter will be sent to you at the latest one month before the start of the semester. Read our general visa instructions here.
Q: Is there on-campus accommodation available at Hanyang University?
A: Yes. To apply to the campus dormitories, you must choose “Yes” when applying to Hanyang University through their own portal. Q: When can I move into the dormitory, and how long can I stay there?

Q: What kind of costs should I be prepared for?
A: In addition to tuition fees, you should be prepared to pay for the student visa, flights, accommodation and other living costs.
The cost of living in Seoul is comparable to most European countries. However, like everywhere, the cost of living highly depends on your anticipated lifestyle. Usually, our students consider Seoul as well affordable.
Luckily, there are many options to help lower your costs while living in South Korea – goshiwons and public transport are great examples.
Q: Do I need to take into account any healthcare-related matters?
A: In addition to the basic vaccinations (MMR and diphtheria-tetanus), travelers are most often advised to get vaccinated against Hepatitis A and B. Vaccinations always depend partly on the individual, so remember to consult your physician.
Q: Do I need insurance?
A: All students are required to have valid insurance for the duration of the semester. See our recommended travel insurance providers here.
A: NHIS (National Health Insurance)
International students are required to apply for the National Health Insurance Service of Korea in compliance with the Republic of Korea’s laws (National Health Insurance Act). This is mandatory for foreigners staying in Korea for over six months, classifying them as Locally Insured Persons. Failure to pay the National Health Insurance fee can result in restrictions on obtaining a residential permit, such as a visa extension.
To ensure comprehensive insurance coverage beyond the National Health Insurance Service of Korea, all students must enroll in International Student Injury Insurance. The insurance fee is to be paid alongside the tuition fee and will be included in the tuition bill. Enrollment is contingent upon payment of the insurance fee.

Q: Can I get a scholarship as an international student at Hanyang University?
A: Yes, if you apply through Asia Exchange, you will get a discount on your first semester worth EUR 1960. Moreover, there are two scholarships for international students at Hanyang University. Moreover,
- Hanyang International Excellence Awards (HIEA):
- This award recognizes international students who have shown significant academic progress at Hanyang University.
- Recipients are chosen through a document screening process.
- Qualifications include holding a valid TOPIK level certificate, having insurance, and achieving a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the previous semester.
- Benefits range from a 30% to 100% tuition reduction based on evaluation results.
- The scholarship period is one semester.
- Required documents and application periods are announced on the OIA website at global.hanyang.ac.kr.
- TOPIK Scholarship:
- This scholarship is available for international students enrolled in a degree program at Hanyang University ERICA Campus.
- Eligible students are those who achieve higher TOPIK levels than those submitted during admission or during the previous TOPIK Scholarship.
- Benefits vary based on the department and TOPIK level attained:
- All departments except for Design, Sports, and Arts (KRW 700,000): TOPIK no performance/level 3 or lower level 4 or higher
- All departments except for Design, Sports, and Arts (KRW 500,000): TOPIK level 4 or higher level Sor higher
- Scholarships are provided only to students who improve their TOPIK levels.
- Applicants can receive duplicate benefits with other scholarships.
- The application process involves online submission and requires the new TOPIK certificate.
- Applications should be made right after the announcement of each TOPIK test result.
- Scholarship regulations may change; the latest information can be found on the OIA’s official website.

Q: Are there any other recommended scholarships besides those directly offered by Hanyang University?

Q: Do I need to know any Korean beforehand?
A: It is not mandatory to know any Korean beforehand. However, knowing only a few basic words and phrases in advance will already help you a lot!

A: All courses in the Bachelor’s degree are üart of the English track at Hanyang University and are held in English.
